Stop Sale on 2 SKUs of Great Life Foods - 5.1.13
Great Life has issued a stop sale on 2 of it's SKUs due to a strange smell. Great Life Grain Free Buffalo and Dr. E's Grain Free Buffalo. The product has been tested and proven free of Salmonella or other toxins. They are working to determine the source of the smell.

Natura Pet Update - 4.29.13
P&G has announced a third wave of the Natura recall. The expanded recall includes all dry dog, cat and ferret food, EVO dog treats and all cat treats with an expiration date on or before 03/24/2014. All Mother Nature branded product, all brands canned product, and all brands dog biscuits and health bars, are not a part of this voluntary recall. Any effected product should be removed from shelves and quarantined. Please fill out and sign the Retailer Retreiver Tracker and send back to returns@animalsupply.com. As always, Animal Supply Co. will work with our retailers to assure that the product return process is as straightforward and efficient as possible.

Natura Pet - 3.18.2013 (Updated 3.22.13)
Natura Pet is voluntarily recalling specific California Natural, Innova, EVO, and Healthwise dry dog, cat, and ferret SKUs as a precautionary measure due to potential Salmonella contamination. No Karma, Mother Nature, wet or treat products are included in this recall. No illnesses have been reported from the recalled product and no other P&G Pet Care brands are impacted by this recall.
We were alerted to a single case of Salmonella in a 2.2lb package of EVO Turkey & Chicken Cat Food. We are taking the precautionary measure to voluntarily recall the entire production window that was produced from December 17-January 2. We believe this action is consistent with our ongoing commitment to product quality and animal and human safety.
Impacted SKUs have expiration dates of December 17, 2013 to January 2, 2014.

The Honest Kitchen is voluntarily recalling five Lots of our Verve, Zeal and Thrive pet food products produced between August and November 2012 and sold nationwide in the US and Canada via retail stores, mail order and online after August 2012 because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Voluntary Recall - BIXBI Branded Jerkey Products
This voluntary recall is a precaution being initiated because Salmonella was found in the facility where some BIXBI products were produced. We are pleased that no BIXBI products tested positive for Salmonella, but feel the need to exercise caution as the safety of pets and their owners is our primary concern. "Best Buy" date ranges are April 20, 2014 through October 3, 2014.
No other BIXBI products are affected.

Voluntary Recall - Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula Patties and Medallions
At Nature’s Variety, we make every effort to ensure that all of our products meet the highest quality standards. We’ve discovered that there is a possibility that pieces of clear plastic may be found in some bags of Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Medallions and Patties with a “Best if Used By” date of 10/04/13. Out of an abundance of caution, we are choosing to voluntarily recall these products. There have been no reports of harm to any pets. There are no other date codes or Instinct Raw products impacted by this action.
The following items should be removed from shelves, destroyed and the Certificate of Destruction sent back to Animal Supply Co. for credit.

IMS Trading Corp. - Cadet 1.16.2013
Voluntary Recall - Cadet Chicken Jerkey Treats
IMS Trading Corp today announced it is voluntarily withdrawing its Cadet Brand Chicken Jerky Treat products sold in the United States until further notice.
The Company is taking this action after learning this week that the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets (NYSDAM) found trace amounts of antibiotic residue in samples of Cadet brand Chicken Jerky Treat products. These antibiotics are approved for use in poultry in China and other major countries, including European Union member states, but are not among those approved in the U.S. Cadet Brand Chicken Jerky Treat products are safe to feed as directed and have not been linked to ANY illnesses in dogs or humans. However, due to regulatory inconsistencies among countries, the presence of antibiotic residue is technically considered an adulteration in the United States.
At first, New York State authorities requested that IMS Trading Corp remove Cadet Brand Chicken Jerky treats from retail locations only in the state of New York. We have decided to expand this and conduct a voluntary withdrawal of these chicken treat products nationwide.
A double testing program is being established to check for these antibiotics in China (point of origin) and the United States before we consider to sell these products in the future. Testing will be based on a scientifically sound statistical sampling program.
There is no indication that the trace amounts of antibiotic residue are linked to the FDA's ongoing investigation of chicken jerky products. The trace amounts of antibiotic residue (in the parts-per-billion range) do not pose a health or pet safety risk.
