The Animal Supply Company (ASC), a distributor of pet food and supplies, has announced a series of new services and capabilities. These digital, e-commerce and on-demand delivery products and services will allow ASC to better serve customers and help ensure all pets are happy, healthy and safe.
“We are investing in the future of ASC by developing and acquiring the resources to better connect our customers with people who love pets,” CEO Don McIntyre said. “We truly have the best employees in the industry working hard every day to support our brand and retail partners, and our new digital platform will deliver best-in-class products and services.”
Leading in the Digital Age
ASC is developing two new business-to-business (B2B) assets. The first is a B2B e-commerce website launched in December 2017 with a nationwide rollout to be completed by the end of 2018. This new website, developed with OroCommerce, will feature a modern mobile responsive design, easy shopping by categories and brands, dynamic inventory, advanced search, quick ordering and easy checkout.
In addition to the B2B website, ASC is developing a B2B mobile app. The app will give retailers the power to shop on-the-go from the convenience of their smartphones and easy scan-to-order from mobile in store. A nationwide launch is scheduled for Fall 2018.
Enabling E-commerce Fulfillment Growth
Through the opening of three new warehouses, ASC is growing its smart routing and e-commerce fulfillment capabilities nationwide. Located in Orrville, Ohio; Grain Valley, Missouri; and Bartlett, Illinois, these warehouses employ 200 and add 350,000 square feet of warehouse space including significant freezer and refrigerated storage. This expansion brings total warehouse space to over 1.75 million square feet.
Enhancing Delivery Options
In today’s on-demand world, fast delivery means same day. That’s why ASC has partnered with Postmates, an on-demand delivery service. The ASC-Postmates partnership gives retailers the opportunity to meet modern consumer demand by offering on-demand pet supply delivery options in their local communities. Postmates couriers bring product directly from store shelves to consumers’ front doors, with delivery in minutes, not days.
“We are very excited to see our digital-first approach coming to life through these new products and services,” said Angela Spears, senior vice president of Digital Strategy & Marketing. “Our focus has been on supporting the success of the independent pet industry, and these new capabilities will empower our partners and help push the industry forward.”
